How Fructose Contributes To Obesity, Diabetes And Cardio-Vascular Problems

Most people are used to consuming sugar every day. This is because they think it is important to include it in the diet. However, this is not true. The body can produce the sugar it requires from the proteins and carbohydrates it consumes. This means that you do not have to eat cookies and candy bars all the time. According to research a diet that has a high amount of fructose such as some sugars and corn syrup contributes to diabetes and obesity.

Fructose intake leads to metabolic syndrome in both animals and humans. Metabolic syndrome is a one of the factors that increase the chances of an individual getting heart disease, diabetes and other problems. Diets that contain more fructose and sucrose as opposed to starch lead to more accumulation of fat around body organs.

It is alright to consume fruits and other natural foods such as honey. They have natural sugars which are not harmful in the body. Added sugars are the problem. Artificial sugar is found in most processed foods such as ketchup and ice cream among others.

Many processed foods contain artificial flavors that are not good for the body. When you take a fruit you get vitamins, fiber, minerals and a lot of photo-nutrients all which are good for your growth. Sugar in the form of fructose is also present. Fruits such as oranges and apples contain sugar that is not harmful to the body. Even if you eat two or three fruits, you only get about an ounce of sugar and some fibers.

If you drink a can of soda you get a lot of sugar and no nutrients from it. All it has is a bunch of artificial flavors and sweeteners that do more harm than good. The fruits are the better choice and you are strongly advised to consume them instead of drinking soda.

Nowadays, sugar does not cost much unlike back in the days when only the rich in society could afford it. Many food processing firms prefer to use sugars in their ingredients so that they can cut down on the amount of starch present because it is more costly. Almost all processed foods contain artificial sweeteners which are not good for the body.

Glucose in turn changes to fat. A lot of fat leads to inflammation of the arteries. This contributes to heart problems, diabetes and obesity. Most processed foods contain sugars and the more you take them the higher the chances of being unhealthy. If you already have a lot of fat in the body it is advisable to undertake an exercise program to improve your well being.

You can engage in various activities that lead to weight loss. Go for a 30 minute walk, golf, play tennis, go for a swim. This will help to burn down the fat around your body and get you in shape. Eating a healthy diet is also advisable. Make sure that you feed on more natural foods and avoid processed foods because they have a lot of sugar. The less added sugar you consume the healthier you will become. This is a good solution to fighting obesity, diabetes, and heart diseases.
