Look Younger, Fresher, and More Confident

By Elen Hanszen

As we age, all of us seem to long for our more youthful clear skin, and are upset about age spots, and the lines and wrinkles that inevitably form. Many people can lose their self confidence once they start seeing the first signs of aging. A skin peel is a good solution for those who are having issues that are a result of their aging appearance.

A good way to rejuvenate skin is the use of a chemical skin peel, to enable the skin to look younger. Your face will have less obvious signs of age on it, such as fine lines and wrinkles. The outermost part of your skin sometimes has an accumulation of dead skin cells, and a skin peel will remove these, reducing wrinkles and making it appear brighter.

Freckles, age spots, and liver spots are reduced dramatically after a skin peel, this is a time tested process. Softer, smoother looking skin will result after a patient goes through the process of getting a chemical peel. For those who have had minor or major issues with acne, a chemical peel; fewer pimples is the expected result, and less inflammation.

While something like a skin product can take weeks on end of constant usage to see results, a chemical peel is something that is over with in several sessions, or just a one time sitting. Many plastic surgery solutions are permanent and more invasive for the patient, and a peel is nowhere close to that level. Chemical peels are much more than subtle adjustments to skin moisture levels or promises to strengthen collagen like some over the counter creams offer.

Calling it a "peel" says it all; the outermost layers of facial skin are peeled away, promoting new skin growth, and showing the fresher, newer looking skin on top. Because the re-grown skin is new it has a fresh, bright, tight appearance and fewer blemishes or wrinkles.

Chemical peels are cosmetic procedures that require no pain medication since it is not painful at any stage of the process. It is usually recommended that a course of six peels is given one or two weeks apart, to get the best results from superficial chemical peels. A peel has very minimal risk when it is more superficial. Superficial chemical peel side effects last for several days after procedure. Although rare, hyperpigmentation has been known to be a side effect, and skin in some cases will appear to have a colour change. If you have a deep peel then it may actually inhibit the skin's pigmenting ability.

To make the skin heal more speedily following the procedure, a patient should clean the skin often and moisturize, this will promote healing and stop infections or rashes. Sunscreen is also another recommendation that physicians will usually give a patient before having a skin peel.
